Dental crowns are the most frequently used smile restorations because they offer versatile restoration for a variety of oral health concerns, including:

• Severe decay or damage that cannot be repaired with more conservative treatments

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Unlike traditional amalgam fillings that are silver or metal-colored in appearance, composite resin fillings blend seamlessly within patients’ smiles. Additionally, tooth-colored fillings are applied directly to the prepared surfaces of damaged teeth creating a strong, durable bond between teeth and fillings that are less likely to chip, crack, or break away over time. Composite resin fillings protect teeth from additional damage, and the strong bond between filling and enamel reduces the risk for future decay by preventing bacteria from accessing the space between the filling and the tooth. At our office, strong, tooth-colored bonded restorations can be milled from various materials using CEREC technology in just one appointment.

Tooth Extraction

We work hard to help patients keep their naturally healthy smiles whole for life, but there are some instances in which extraction is the best option to protect patients’ overall oral health. Some situations when we may recommend extraction include:

• Severe decay or trauma that cannot be repaired effectively with dental crowns or other more conservative restorations.
• Crowding that prevents orthodontic treatments from being successfully completed.
• Wisdom teeth, third molars, are the last to erupt in the patients’ smiles and the most frequently extracted as there is often inadequate space to accommodate them.
